This is a unique black netlike mesh Egyptian Assuit wedding shawl. It is made of black colored cotton netting with thousands of hand-applied hand-hammered sterling silver wire studs. This ethnic art has been well-known in Egypt as 'Tulle Embroidery' since the turn of the 19th Century. This material is made by hand and involves beating silver strips onto a mesh base which takes a considerable length of time and this is reflected in the price. Patterns vary from the geometric motifs of the Muslim artisans to the figurative designs of the Coptic Christians.

This stunning shawl is fully decorated and completely covered with tiny silver pieces arranged in an art deco geometric and figurine designs (alternatively). The shawl approximately measures 78 inches long and 48 inches wide.

Since this item is handwoven, embroidered silver motifs may vary in shape, design and size. Motifs may differ from those shown on picture. Arrangements of motifs may differ too.
