Natural Egyptian Anise Drink

100% Natural Anise Drink, Organically Cultivated. A pack of 12 filterbags, each containing pure Anise of highly selected quality. Contains no artificial colors, flavors, additives, or preservatives.

There is evidence that anise was used in Egypt as early as 1500 B.C. to aid digestion. It is one of the oldest known spice plants used both for culinary and medicinal purposes and as a flavor for medicine since prehistoric times.

Anise Medicinal Uses:
Anise is antispasmodic, helping to relieve intestinal wind and spasmodic coughs. Anise has been combined with cathartic laxatives to help reduce the spasmodic cramping they can cause. It is an excellent remedy for chest infections of all kinds. It can be used to treat bronchitis and even the more serious lung infections such as pneumonia and pleurisy.

It is also used as a relaxing expectorant (helps you to cough up phlegm from the chest without making you exert too much energy in coughing).

Aniseed is great in the treatment of asthma thanks to its relaxing effect, and is particularly useful for children, as it tastes so good. Children with respiratory infections can often cough uncontrollably, Aniseed will help to reduce this distressing symptom. Anise is used in the manufacture of many commercial cough syrups and sore throat medications such as lozenges, used to flavour other medicines and to scent soaps and perfumes.

It is an excellent Calminative, as it is good at reducing wind/gas, bloating, colic and abdominal pain and is used as a digestive aid.

Anise is used as urinary antiseptic and a Galactagogue. Just like fennel, aniseed increases milk production in nursing mothers.

It makes an excellent soothing herbal tea. It can be used as a breath sweetener, where we can roast the seeds lightly before chewing.

This scene comes directly from an ivory chest that was found in his tomb in 1922, when it was discovered by Howard Carter. Tut. took the throne at a mere eight years old and would have held close to his wife for love and support. Their touching scenes show us how close they were, most likely because they grew up in the palace together.

It is handcrafted out of 18K gold.

The Tiet (also known as the knot of Isis): This symbol is also known as the Girdle of Isis, the Belt of Isis, Tie of Isis, Buckle of Isis, or Blood of Isis. The Egyptian word for this symbol is the tit, or the tyet.

The Knot represents the power of menstruation, fertility and Goddess Isis's role as Mother of the God---"The blood of Isis, the virtue of Isis, the magic power of Isis, the magic power of the Eye, are protecting this the Great One; they prevent any wrong being done to him." - the Egyptian Book of the Dead ----

The eye being referred to here is most likely the eye of Isis's womb. According to the book of the dead, gives the protection of Isis and her son Horus to whoever wears it. Typically made out of red jasper, it symbolized blood, magic and power from the magical Goddess herself.

The Djed Pillars/Djed Columns (also known as the Tet of Osiris): is a stylized tree, symbolic of the tamarisk tree that held Osiris's body. It represents sturdiness, stability and the ability of the spirit to break from its earthly bonds and rise toward heaven. The 4 bars represent the 4 elements of water, air, fire and earth. Djed Pillars have also been equated to the spine of the human being and so represent strength and stability.

His mother, Nephthys, was married to Set but as wife of the God of Aridity and Storm, conceived no children. Her greatest wish was to have a child. So, she deceived Osiris (possibly by diguising herself as Isis). The fruit of that union was Anubis. Fearful of Set's vengeance, she exposed the infant who was later discovered and adopted by Isis.

Anubis was the funary God who invented mummification, the Jackal head is symbolised for two purposes, that jackals were always found in the graveyards almost as guardians and the other that they were renowned for there speed. As the mummification process took so long it was thought that this would quicken things in the under world.

Canopic Jars were in use from the Old Kingdom onwards in Egypt to store various internal organs removed during the process of mummification.

They were four in number and eventually came to represent the Four Sons of Horus.
Isis Nursing Horus Replica Statue

Ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis Nursing Infant Horus. Egyptian Museum, Cairo, 1300BC

Isis is often shown with her son Horus in her arms. She is crowned with the lunar orb, ornamented with the horns of rams or bulls.
Goddess Isis, sister-consort of Osiris, god of the dead, is represented seated with her son placed at a right angle to her on her lap. She wears a tight-fitting dress and a vulture headdress surmounted by a sun disk enclosed by a pair of cow's horns, which are now broken. The horns and sun disk were originally associated with the goddess Hathor, but later they were used by Isis too. The child is supported by his mother's left arm, while her right hand offers her breast for suckling. Horus is given the attributes of a child, being shown naked, with a single lock of hair falling on the right side of his otherwise shaven head, and sucking his forefinger. However, he is also closely associated with the ideal of kingship - the living king being a manifestation of Horus - and so he wears a uraeus (cobra), a symbol of kingship, on his forehead.

Isis was revered as an emblem of motherhood and protector of young children. Possibly due to the shift of political power to the Delta, where in myth Isis raised Horus in secret, the cult of Isis and the child Horus strengthened from the Third Intermediate period onward, and during the Greco-Roman period spread widely through the ancient world. After the Emperor Constantine had made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, the mother-child image formerly attached to Isis and Horus reemerged in representations of the Virgin and Child.

Harakhti; the Egyptian god of the morning sun, whose name means 'Horus of the Twin Horizons'. Harakhti (Harachte) is one of the many manifestations of Horus. He represents the union of Re and Horus as one deity - the sun at midday. Both thrones bear the symbol of the unification of the two lands - Upper and Lower Egypt. The Egyptian pharaoh was said to be born on the eastern horizon as Harakhti and to rule over the eastern and western horizon in that form. In Heliopolis he coalesced with Re and was worshipped as Re-Harakhti (Ra-Harakhti). He was depicted in the form of a falcon.

Hathor's protection was invoked over children and pregnant women. When a child was born in Egypt, seven Hathors (somewhat like European fairy godmothers) would appear to "speak with one mouth" and determine the child's fate.

Standard Size: Approximately 7.9 in. X 11.8 in. (20X30 cm).
Bigger sizes are available. Please select if you want.

Silver Egyptian Nomadic Bedouin Earrings

Silver Egyptian Bedouin Ethnic Earrings; handcrafted in Egypt. These tribal gypsy earrings are hallmarked for authenticity purposes.

Since time beyond memory, one of the most powerful reasons to wear jewelry for Egyptian nomadic bedouin women has been as a charm against evil spirits. Such practices were reflecting women’s fears of disease, accidents or bad luck, and recognizing the vulnerability of children, husbands and family members to calamities beyond anyone’s control.

Young children wore amulets to keep them safe from gennies, or evil spirits; these often included a noise-making element, such as tiny bells or seeds encapsulated in silver, the sound of which was believed to keep spirits at bay. Colored stones incorporated in jewelry, particularly red and blue ones, were also thought to aid in repelling evil.

A well-known amuletic jewelry worn by Muslim Bedouin women was the so-called hijab; hollow cylindrical forms designed to hold a written verse from the Qu’ran, which were believed to have protective power. Other amuletic jewelry included silver pendants in the shape of triangles, stars, moons, rosettes or the stylized hands of Fatimah.

The Ankh, known in Latin as a crux ansata (handle-shaped cross), is the Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol for 'life'. The Ankh has also been used in other societies and has different meanings. The vampurical meaning, for instance, is a 'happy, ever-lasting life'.

The Ankh is found inscripted in ancient Egyptian tombs (such as King Tutankhamen). Ancient Egyptian Gods and Pharaohs are often depicted holding an Ankh. The Ankh also forms part of the hieroglyphic concepts such as health and happiness. Ankhs were also used for oath taking in early Egyptian society.
